Dental crowns are often the best way to treat a damaged or decayed tooth. Typically made of porcelain, a crown is a hollow tooth that is built to fit over the damaged tooth, completely covering it up all the way down to the gum line.
This provides excellent protection, preventing further complications and damage to the tooth. Porcelain crowns also look and feel very realistic, so they restore your natural smile and bite, too. Contact us now to schedule a consultation and see if a crown from Dr. Shook is right for you.
We have the ability to create your crown on the same exact day, and we can do all kinds of custom characterizations so that the crown we make for you looks nearly identical to the surrounding teeth! Here is an example that we did in our office: (crown is on the very far right)
At Shook Family Dental, we pride ourselves on working with dental labs that use the latest technology to build custom-fitted crowns from high-quality porcelain materials, they may also be made of gold when sent to the lab, depending on patient preference and doctor's suggestion. We never cut corners, and Dr. Shook has years of experience building crowns that will stand the test of time.

Crowns usually have a lifespan of between 10-20 years, but can easily last longer. Maintain good oral hygiene and see Dr. Shook for a teeth cleaning and oral exam every six months to keep your crown in good shape.
Crowns don’t hurt at all. Your mouth will be numb during the treatment process, so you will feel no pain or discomfort. Your tooth may feel tender for a few days, but it will feel completely normal once your permanent crown has been placed.
