At Your Child’s First Appointment

Your child’s appointment will be very similar to an adult dental visit. First, a hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from their teeth, buff and polish them, and floss their teeth. They will also take x-rays and perform a brief oral exam.

Then, your child's dentist will come in, review their x-rays, and examine their mouth to look for any signs of oral health issues like cavities. He’ll discuss his findings with you, answer any questions you may have, and then schedule any follow-ups your child requires.

Selecting The Crown

Next, Dr. Shook will choose a pre-fitted crown that will fit over your child’s tooth perfectly.

Step 3

Crown Placement

Dr. Shook will use powerful dental cement to place the crown. This protects the tooth, and the crown will keep the baby tooth in great shape until it falls out naturally.

Space Maintainers

If your child loses a baby tooth early, they’ll need a space maintainer. These devices fill up the gap in their smile and prevent the nearby teeth from shifting. Space maintainers are necessary to ensure that your child’s adult teeth erupt properly after premature tooth loss.
